Mindful Performance Enhancement

Mindful Performance Enhancement Awareness and Knowledge (mPEAK) is a course to enhance the human capacity for mindfulness related to peak performance, resilience, focus and “flow.”

The program is based on the highly respected and empirically-supported Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) curriculum and adapted to enhance our performance moments, big and small. mPEAK is ideally suited to athletes, coaches, first-responders, performing artists, business professionals or anyone looking to participate in a program that enhances our capacity to be at our best in our performance moments by bringing together the latest scientific research and mindfulness training.

We don’t view mindful performance as a single event or a future outcome, we hold it as a present moment experience of the performer at their authentic best: in flow, at choice, and navigating with grace and grit. – mPEAK

Program activities include meditation; presentations on the relationship between neuroscientific findings, peak performance and mindfulness; experiential exercises; group discussion; and home practice. The goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment for exploring how we typically respond to challenges and opportunities and to provide tools for becoming more adept at meeting and overcoming these obstacles to achieve our goals.

The mPEAK program involves an approach whereby participants, upon completion, will experience :

  • being open and receptive to insight and creative inspiration
  • Responding more courageously, rather than reacting to stress; while monitoring difficult experiences such as fear
  • practicing non-attachment and being present to process rather than a future outcome
  • finding their “sweet spot” through balanced-effort by letting go of striving for perfection;
  • having more compassion by meeting failure with kindness and a willingness to learn from the experience
  • being more focused with sustained engagement in the present moment;
  • being disciplined in making choices that are consistent with intentions;
  • greater understanding of the central role of mindfulness meditation practice for fostering peak performance in the regulation of emotions and behaviors.

The goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment for exploring how we typically respond to challenges and opportunities and to provide tools for becoming more adept at meeting and overcoming these obstacles to achieve our goals. The emphasis of the program is on enhancing attentional and emotional resources, as well as personal capacities.

Team EPA

When challenged, either by external forces or by pushing our limits, this is when it can be our greatest and most rewarding experience.

Team EPA (Edge Power Agility) is our signature program that works to protect the performance environment of elite high performing teams. We know this to be complex and achievable.

When teams are grounded with a sense of purpose and an understanding of common behaviors then work becomes play.

Each team has its own unique environment, challenges, and culture. Getting to a place of achieving “Team Flow”, especially under the weight of difficult challenges, is part of the fundamental design of the Team EPA program.

Mindfulness approaches will be used to explore enhancing team connectivity, compassion, and flow . Interpersonal practices include empathetic joy, mindful listening, self-compassion and authentic self.

We will work with you to design an “intervention” that integrates seamlessly into your environment to meet your team/organization goals through sustainable transformational change.

Coaching

Our struggles come from us being “led” by our thoughts, often finding ourselves following an unaware path of reactions.

The mentally strong performer “leads” his/her thoughts so instead of reacting to triggering events, they mindfully respond to them.

We don’t control what happens to us, but we do control how we experience them.

Through careful and curious observation of our experiences, our mental, physical and emotional reactions are witnessed. This gives us an opportunity to pause, relax, and breathe. Once the reaction cycle is broken, we can make a mindful response or new choice, especially under high pressure situations.

Mindfulness-based coaching is a process to help individuals (re)gain composure being their best under stress, while stretching beyond familiar ways of being to advance personal performance goals.

Innovation & Problem Solving

Design solutions through human centred problem solving. This is where design thinking meets mindful performance.

Solve difficult problems and come up with innovative new solutions to the challenges you face. Empathy-based solutions get to the heart of issues that allow you bring something new to the world – something that you had not thought about before – and by doing it faster and with less risk.

It starts by being inspired with a problem and then framing it as a design challenge by asking: What problem or opportunity is motivating us to search for a solution?

From there, it is about letting go of pre-conceived ideas about the problem and trusting an established industry-leading process through a series of phases involving divergent and convergent thinking, user research, ideation, and prototyping.

It is a practical and rewarding experience making more of our unknowns known; providing the greatest probability for a successful implementation.
